  Hangzhou's Mei JiaWu tea culture village has more than 600 years of history. It is situated to the west of the famous West Lake scenic area, to the south of the "plum spirit" tunnel and runs along both sides of Mei Ling road for ten miles. The village is located in a deep and secluded valley and is surrounded entirely by lush green hills. With small streams running down through the valley and an abundance of wildlife this fertile land is a true paradise on earth. The fragrant green tea aroma that fills the atmosphere is that of the famous"West Lake Dragon Well"green tea.Mei JiaWu remains Hangzhou's most affluent suburb and is characterised by the timeless tea-farmers whom continue to farm the tea and labor in the same manor as their ancestors. The area remains an important touristattraction allowing the promotion of Chinese tea culture across the globe.During the 1950's and 1960's Mei JiaWu was already a focal point for opening Chinese culture to the world. As a sightseeing village,it has received such distinguished guests as the Princess of Thailand and the former President of the Soviet Union Voroshilov. Queen Elizabeth II of the UK has also been known to appreciate Dragon Well green tea. The Chinese Premier Zhou     EnLai visited MeiJiaWu on five occasions in order to inspect and instruct the construction work that was taking place at the time and in october 2003 Chinese President Jiang ZeMin also paid a visit to the remarkable village.Today Mei JiaWu 's exquisite scenery,unique style and friendly character have firmly placed it on the world map as a epresentative of Chinese tea culture.Of the four green tea's found within Hangzhou MeiJiaWu's Dragon Well green tea is renowned as the finest of all.
